This introduction to nalbinding workshop aims to preserve the ancient craft of nalbinding, which is now on the red list of endangered crafts. Participants will learn the cultural and archaeological history of nalbinding and how to get started with the Oslo stitch.
A PDF instructional booklet is included with this workshop. You will need a needle (a metal or plastic darning needle can be used) and 100% wool yarn (aran or chunky weight).
Nalbinding kits including everything you need for this workshop can be purchased alongside if required.

This class aims to preserve and pass on the knowledge of nalbinding, the most ancient method of knitting yarn into fabric. Attendees will learn the cultural and archaeological history of nalbinding, how to create the Oslo stitch and various techniques such as increasing, decreasing and felting on. This class gives attendees the skills to create hats, mittens, socks, pouches and more.
Everything you'll need for the class is included; a nalbinding needle and Jacobs yarn - which you can take home at the end to practice! There will be a break for lunch (lunch not included.)
